YOU need a change in FOCUS

I've seen the phrase, "I'm so glad I got laid off!" across the net lately and it is actually quite comical in a sense but also a statement of revelation. Ever since the recession has made staggering change in American's lives many people have been forced unwilling to make significant adjustments in their daily lives including me. The news bombards you daily with stories of the swine flu making everyone wear those sanitary masks over their faces, recession, unemployment and other issues of global warfare. It is all very disheartening BUT the good news is that God remains certain in HIS promises to us even in our times of uncertainty. I personally am very uncommonly calm about my personal pursuits. Although I have never been one to panick I just trust that God has a better plan for me. I am taking this time to pursue my dream of working for myself. I know that I can do it and with all that I have learned over the years from working in corporate america it just seems so attainable to me now moreso than ever before. I believe that I will succeed in my endeavors and I even started to look up pursuing government bids for design jobs. I'm at the hurry up and wait point right now but the rainbow is yet so near....... I don't want to feel like I'm trapped by a glass ceiling and running in the rat race ever again. How about you? Do you need a change in focus?

No MUFFIN TOP for Momma

Halle was dubbed as the Show stopper of the week on concreteloop and I would have to agree. She has always looked great but hands down after child birth she looks amazing to me! No muffin top for momma! I want to look like her when I grow up. Today I ran around my subdivision, up and down the hills, so much so that I felt nauseated when I returned home but I am more than determined to lose this gut and strut my stuff this summer. No more muffin top for me!

The Women.....It's all about the Men!

I had the chance to view the movie, "The Women," today and was quite surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. The movie was based around 4 women whose lives all intertwined with each others in friendship. The main character, Mary Haines, was married to a wealthy businessman who ends up having an affair with the infamous 'perfume bitch.' lol The spritzer was played by Eva Mendez who performed the role of a sexy perfume girl at Saks that lured Mr. Haines with her charm. This brings me to my next point.

How many marriages become unraveled due to affair? Do you think it is because either party is bored and needs that extra umph to get the spark going again or are there both men and women out there with full intention of sleeping with your husband or wife without the slightest care in the world? I've always heard about the 7 year itch some married folks get and this couple was together for 13. He was in Saks purchasing perfume for his wife. Isn't safe to say he was happily married before he met the seductress? So are we really that weak as humans or is there always someone 'bad' enough to temp us into infidelity?

Everytime I tell a man that Im a Scorpio two things happen...#1 they instantly smile, and #2 they go, "Ahhhh...so your a freak?" Who said that??...

Now I read astrology books and horoscopes and all about the certain characteristics that each of the astrological signs are supposed to possess, so I know good and well that they "say" that Scorpios are the "most sexually oriented" sign. I was having a conversation with a friend the other day (no names will be used for security purposes!, lol-I told her I would write that;), and she happens to be a scorpio as well. She was telling me how 2 scorpios together make a great sexual combination, to be discreet, if you get my drift, lol. As I think back, Ive had one scorpio lover, and to be honest, it wasnt all that...in fact, it just may have been the worst ever!, lol. So that leaves me to wonder just what is the "best sex sign"?...

The restaurants inhabit the once-empty warehouses on 12th Avenue from 125th Street to 133rd Street, near the new West Harlem Waterfront Park, and right off of the West Side Highway. Each location offers eclectic cuisine as well as a "loungy" atmosphere to grab a drink, vibe with friends, and listen to good music....there's even valet parking!, lol...

Just from the sheer look of it, ever since I saw this place featured in an episode of Harlem Heights ive been dying to go here, lol...and this past Easter my wish came true, yaaay!:) The prices are reasonable and the food is an interesting mix of Thai and Latin cultures. With dishes like pork and chive dumplings, saffron rice with sausage and mussels, and lemongrass marinated ribs, your palate will be pleasantly surprised and pleased. I tried the crispy shrimp with plantains and highly recommend it. The second level is a bottle-service lounge and club that im dying to make my way up too, lol...

I had been hearing about Body for a while now and finally went last Thursday with my 2 girlfriends (hey Tecey Wecey...I know your reading;). Upscale, sophisticated, and located at the end of restaurant row, I'd put this place on my list as a nice lounge to chill at. The decor and ambiance was very trendy, and the music had us up on our feet dancing the night away...well....at least as long as our almost 3 hours out lasted!, lol...
While Body is best known as a nightclub, it also offers a modern American menu, a roof deck, and outdoor seating that i'll hopefully be trying out in future visits:)...

Even my parents are among the many that are raving about this place!, lol. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que serves up Texas style cuisine with a roadhouse feel. Im not a big rib or BBQ fan, but I hear that it's so good that ill have a change of heart after trying it....I'll let you know if it does the trick!:)

Do Friends REALLY Make the Best LOVERS?...

I would like to speak to the person who coined the old saying, "friends make the best lovers" lol. I know that I have male friends, and they are my "friends" for a reason...I just dont see them in that light. And I know this goes vice versa as well. Ive had male friends who I might have looked at as more than a friend, but I still found them keeping me in the friend zone, lol, which is quite alright because I wouldnt want to be with someone who didnt see me in the same light as I saw them. So when do friends stop looking at each other as such and start seeing something more? How does this come about? Im just curious thats all...

I know couples who proclaim that their other half is their best friend, but Im sure that happened as the relationship developed (even though thats a whole other topic, dont get me started, lol). But if you've known someone for a while...you've hung out with them, they know some of your inner most secrets, and their one of the closest people you have in your life, how do you all of a sudden turn off the friendship switch and turn on the sex switch? Im sure that developing a love relationship with someone who you consider a good friend must be wonderful. But as I sit and think about the true male friends that I have....I dont think that I could ever view them in that light. Now granted, they are all attractive, good men, who have something going for them in way or another, but I dont ever see myself as looking at them as any more than that. And as a female friend of mine just said (Karla Barla:), "wouldnt it have happened already if it were to happen"? How can friends make the best lovers when some people dont even believe that men and woman can be JUST friends in the first place??...

I'm a hopeless romantic at heart! I was thinking just recently about romance and effects that technology has had on it. What happened to the days of hand written love letters sent in the mail? Wouldn't it be nice to receive a unexpected little note from your admirer? These are the days where you can flirt, tease and practically date someone all over waves of technology. Texting, IM, Chat, Email, Ecard, and the latest social networking sites are all ways people are choosing to link up so to speak. Will our young men know the importance of courting a female if he can opt to say 'hit me up on my facebook?' lol Perhaps not..... Do men even offer to open the door or pull out your chair anymore or how about the many times I'm in the gas station and I see a female pumping her own gas with a male sitting on the passenger side. WTF! Absolutely NOT! I vote for us bringing romance back. Try picking up your date, bring her a small token of 'love' or appreciation atleast for her time and open the car door for her, pull out the seat if you're going to dinner. It's the little things that go the distance.

This brings me to another thought. Internet dating....What do you think about finding your soulmate on match.com? I'm a bit hesitant myself but what are your thoughts? What other options do you have really if you feel as though you are too old for the club like I do? I just went out recently to Ten Pin with a friend and I told myself after having a hangover the next day, this is THE last time lol. I felt like I was amongst a bunch of children bumping into me and splashing my drink all over my clothes. Damn watch where the f*ck you are going lol but I have to remember that I'm a lady and not to speak in such ways lol Anyways let a sistah know what's on your mind.
